John Rehill, local government and environmental reporter for The Bradenton Times, will present a vegetarian dinner at Charisma Cafe in the Village of the Arts on March 22. The prix fixe dinner will consist of a special menu designed by Rehill, a practicing vegan who spent years as a restaurant proprietor and bulk sprout supplier in between stints in journalism.

Manatee Technical Institute’s 17th Annual Chili Cook-Off will return Friday November 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at their new east county campus on SR 70, just west of I-75. Students from each program will compete against each other to win the best chili designation. Tickets are $5. Proceeds will benefit United Way of Manatee County.

On Saturday, The Resort at the Longboat Key Club hosted its third annual Bacchus on the Beach food and wine festival. A seaside showcase of the finest wines in the world, expertly paired with the resort's incomparable cuisine, the event was nothing short of magnificent. Proceeds benefited the Child Protection Center, a refuge and treatment center for victims of child abuse, located in Sarasota.
