The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission issued an executive order that the bag limit for oysters be lowered to 10, 60-pound bags per person, which is half as much as the previous amount. The fifth annual Ben Gullett Mullet Invitational and fish fry will be held on Oct. 12 and 13, then the Fall Fly Fishing Challenge will be held the next weekend.

Rick Grassett Fishing recommends looking for diving terns and breaking fish to find them. Tarpon of all sizes should be another good option in upper Charlotte Harbor depending on conditions. Catch and release snook fishing before dawn and then moving to the flats for trout and reds in Sarasota Bay should also be good next week.

Rick Grassett Fishing recommends fishing for false albacore (little tunny). Spanish mackerel should be good in the coastal gulf when sea conditions are good. Look for diving terns and breaking fish to find them. Catch and release snook before dawn and then moving to the flats for trout and reds in Sarasota Bay should also be good next week. Tarpon of all sizes may be another good option in upper Charlotte Harbor depending on conditions.
