The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s (FWC) TrophyCatch program awarded a $40,000 Phoenix bass boat to Jill Ganey, of Tallahassee, during the Bass Pro Shops Southern Open on Lake Tohopekaliga-Kissimmee. It was a fitting venue, since it was at the Bass Pro Shops grand opening in Tallahassee in September 2013 where Jill actually registered for the TrophyCatch program.more»
The Cortez Fish Festival is coming up over Valentine's Day weekend. The FWC is asking anglers to participate in an gulf reef fish survey to see how many reef fish are caught. Dewight “Richie” Whitmore, 27, from Ringgold, Georgia, caught, documented and released a 14-pound, 1-ounce Florida largemouth bass at Rodman Reservoir on Martin Luther King Day. Whitmore, fishing with Georgia friend Josh Broome and Florida fishing guide Sean Rush, was using live shiners when they laid into the behemoth around 8:30 in the morning.more»

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s (FWC) TrophyCatch program awarded the Season 2 Hall of Fame winner, Joseph “Brooks” Morrell from Hampton, with the TrophyCatch championship ring from the American Outdoors Fund. Morrell caught, documented and released a 14-pound, 9-ounce bass to earn the top prize for Season 2 (Oct. 1, 2013, to Sep. 30, 2014).
