Thelma M. Bowlby, passed away August 17, 2014 at Westminster Towers in Bradenton, FL. She was born 93 years ago in Muscatine, Iowa, growing up in a family with six siblings. Married to Orrin D. Bowlby, they retired to Bradenton in 1980 from Austin, MN where they had a successful CPA firm for many years.
She was predeceased by her parents, Clyde and Alice Albrecht; her husband, Orrin Bowlby; five siblings; a daughter-in-law; two grandchildren; two nephews and two nieces. She is survived by her three children, Rev. William Bowlby, Portland OR, Shirley Smith, (Dr. Theodore Smith) Ruskin, FL and Douglas Bowlby, Rochester, MN, seven grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She loved her church and was a faithful member of Emmanuel Methodist Church. Most of her adult life she was an art teacher; a porcelain artist, she taught many students through the years including several family members. Loving to share, many homes are graced with her artwork. She was loved by many and will be missed.
The family is most grateful for the care she received at Westminster Towers, as was she. She came to love and appreciate many of the caregivers there. Our heartfelt thanks to them.
