Raymond E. Tigue, Jr., 83, Bradenton, died Aug 12, 2014. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, he moved to Bradenton  in 1970 from Bronx, New York. A Veteran of the US Navy during Korea, he was a long distance driver for Tropicana 1970-1992, he was a member of the American Legion and he attended St. Joseph Catholic Church.

 

Survived by daughters, Lori Torres of Pompano Beach, FL, Debra Tigue of Sarasota, FL and Jerilynn (Jeff) Chapin of Bradenton, FL; 7 grandchild; 2 great grandchildren.

Herman McSwain Searcy, Manatee Community Leader, 74, of Bradenton, passed away August 12, 2014. He is survived by his sister, Louise Lane; his son, Van Searcy; his daughters, Elizabeth (Beth) Searcy and Allison Searcy; his granddaughters, Alexandra Searcy Weinstein and Madeleine Searcy Weinstein.

 

Herman was born in Rutherfordton, NC and moved to Bradenton in 1967, where he became Vice President of Installment Loans at Manatee National Bank. Upon his arrival in Bradenton, Herman quickly became an active community leader as he strongly believed you should give back to the community in which you earned your living.

 

Few people have contributed more to the success of the De Soto Celebration than Herman. Throughout his lifetime, he served as President, General Chairman and Board Member of the Hernando De Soto Historical Society. In 1970, Herman won the RS Kellogg Award for his initiative and creativity in furthering the goals of the organization. In addition, Herman served on the Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America and as Chairman of the Board of the Bradenton YMCA.

 

Herman was truly one-of-a kind and a special man to all that knew and loved him, including the members of the Wares Creek Badminton and Gastronomical Society. He had an amazing energy and undying love for his family, and will be deeply missed as a father, grandfather and friend. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, August 16 from 3:00 -5:00 at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel, 604 43rd Street West, Bradenton, FL 34209. Agnes T. O'Grady White, beloved wife of John L. White passed peacefully on August 11. Agnes was born on January 22, 1937 in Utica New York to Andrew and Bertha (Treen) O'Grady. In 1956 Agnes married the ''love of her life'' John L. White of Eastchester, NY.

 

Agnes was a loving and dedicated mother to her four children, John White Jr., of Eastchester, NY; Cindy White Wortman of Brookfield, CT; Dr Jeffrey M. White of Bradenton, FL; and Cheryl Tiedemann (Kevin) of Eastchester, NY. Agnes was a proud Grandma to her seven grandchildren, Ashley White, John (Trey) White, Tara Odem, Jessica Wortman Prokop, Gabrielle Wortman, Zachary Wortman and Rebekah Tiedemann.

 

In 1974 Agnes & John established A.T. White Realty, LTD in Eastchester, NY Volunteerism and commitment to the community was an important part of Agnes's life. In 1994 Eastchester Chamber of Commerce honored her as ''Person of the Year''. After retiring Agnes and John resided on Oneida Lake, NY for 17 years, where she enjoyed the outdoors and cherished entertaining her family. She was the consummate hostess. For the past 12 years Agnes and John have loved living in Bradenton, FL.

 

Agnes is predeceased by her brothers John, James, Andrew Jr., sister Catherine and brother in-law Frank Bianco. She is survived by her sisters, Bertha Moyer and Mary Dembrowski (Carl) and brothers, Frances (Marina), Thomas, Patrick (Cindy) and Edward (Deborah) all residing in the Utica, NY area and brother in-law, Mayor Philip White (Alice) of Tuckahoe, NY.

 

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00PM Wednesday August 13, 2014 at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel, 604 43rd St W, Bradenton, FL 34209. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:30AM Thursday August 14, 2014 at Ss Peter Paul the Apostles Catholic Church 2850 75th St W, Bradenton, FL. Dorothy Lee Walker Rainey, 74, Cape Coral, formerly of Sarasota, died August 10, 2014.

Ruby S. Doane, 98, Bradenton, died August 9, 2014. Born in Lansing, NY she moved to Bradenton in 1998 from Cobleskill, NY and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

 

Predeceased by parents, Henry and Ella (Mitchell) Smith; husband, Edwin Carter Doane; survived by son, Edwin Henry Doane of Worcester, NY; daughter, Nancy L. Perry of Bradenton, FL; 6 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren.

James A. Weis, 75, of Bradenton, succumbed to his illnesses on August 7, 2014. He was known to some as ''Big Jim''. Jim spent his last few years in numerous nursing facilities where he battled several ailments. He is now at peace with The Lord. He is predeceased in death by his parents, Herbert & Sadie Weis and his sister Claire Cummings.

 

Jim is survived by his friend/wife, Melinda of Bradenton; nephew, Robert Cummings of Royce City, TX; nieces, Joyce Cummings of East Tawakoni, TX & Barbara Shortnacy of Royce City, TX. Jim is also survived by 4 step-sons, David Windsor Cullver, II (Cathy) of Palmetto, FL, Michael Scott Culver (Stacy) of West Nyack, NY, Jonathan Paul Culver of Gainesville, FL and Craig Arthur Bantner (Linda) of Ft. Myers, FL. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

 

Jim was born in East Paterson, NJ. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Social Studies and History from Montclair State, NJ and a Master's Degree in Administration and Supervision from Rutgers University. He continued his studies in administration at both Princeton University and New York University with Fellowship Grants. Jim worked in the Somerville, NJ School System for 30 years in both Supervisory and teaching positions.

 

He retired from the school system in 1988 and moved to Bradenton where he met his future wife Melinda in the rooms begun by their mutual friend Lois W. Several years later they were married. Jim also worked at the Woodlands Village in the activity department for 19 years as a retirement job.

 

A Eucharistic Memorial Service will be held 4PM Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Christ Episcopal Church, 4030 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton, FL, officiated by Father Alex Andujak. Panagiotis ''Pete'' Kalogeropoulos died on August 7, 2014, he was 61 years old. He was born in Greece on July 11, 1953. Survived by his wife, Fani and 2 daughters, Soula and Katina. He was a loving grandfather to 5 grandchildren and one great grandson.

 

He was respected throughout the painting profession community for his expertise and hard work ethic. He was a painter by trade for many years and owned his own painting company. He was a member and president of St. Mark's Orthodox Church of Bradenton.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations to be given to St. Marks Orthodox Church in Bradenton.

Margaret F. Sheffield, 89, of Bradenton, FL, since 1964, formerly of Wimauma, FL. died July 28, 2014. Born in Neese, GA. She was a Protestant.

Predeceased by her parents George and Annie Floyd and by her husband Wilson L. Sheffield.

She is survived by one son; Richard Sheffield (Diane) of Bradenton, FL, one daughter; Renee S. Cobb (John) of Bradenton, FL., two brothers; Richard T. Floyd of Lake Wales, FL., R. Wayne Floyd of Hull, GA., three sisters; Charlotte K. Mauldin of Atlanta, GA., Betty Ann Willyard of Hull, GA., and Barbara J. Napoli of Tampa, FL., five grandchildren; Elisabeth A. Cobb , John L. Cobb, Clayton Cobb, Richard W. Sheffield, Travis L. Sheffield, three great grandchildren; Tyler & Kaylee Cobb and Carter Perez.
