BRADENTON – Jupiter (43-72, 16-30) jumped out to a 4-0 lead and fended off numerous Marauders (64-52, 29-18) rallies in a 5-3 win over Bradenton on Friday night at McKechnie Field. The loss drops Bradenton into a tie for first place in the South Division with the Palm Beach Cardinals.

Jupiter scratched out a single run in the second and third inning, then doubled the lead when Cody Keefer blasted a two-run home run off Jason Creasy (L, 6-8) in the fourth. Creasy pitched six innings, striking out two and not walking a batter while surrendering 11 hits.

Walker Gourley got Bradenton on the board with a two-out run-scoring single to right field in the fifth off Trevor Williams (W, 8-6). Eric Wood brought in the second Bradenton run in the sixth with a sacrifice fly to plate Jose Osuna. Gourley and Osuna each collected two hits and a run scored in the game. Jin-De Jhang went 2-for-4 with a double.

The Marauders left the bases loaded twice in the game, including in the eighth. The teams traded runs in the penultimate inning, as Jupiter scored once against Tyler Sample, and Bradenton got a run against the combination of Colby Suggs and Sam Alvis.

Yhonathan Barrios pitched the top of the ninth and struck out two batters for the Marauders. Reid Redman pitched a perfect ninth to earn his sixth save for Jupiter.

The Marauders open a three-game series against the St. Lucie Mets on Saturday night at Tradition Field. Shane Carle gets the start and will try to help the Marauders avoid a three-game losing streak. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast online at www.BradentonMarauders.com.
