The Bradenton Times Polls

Poll Question: Which of the following best describe how you feel about elementary school security?

We should have a county deputy in every school, even at an average cost of $144,00 each  We should spend the current $1 million budgeted on 7 roaming deputies  The budgeted funds should be spent on better securing the buildings; ie. security doors, lockdown switches, cameras, etc.  The funds should go to educational needs and any police presence should be a function of law enforcement in that community and its budget More polls »

DAYTONA BEACH – The Marauders (59-49, 24-15) blanked the Daytona Cubs (51-56, 25-14) 8-0 on Thursday night at Jackie Robinson Ballpark on Thursday night. Three Marauders pitchers combined to walk 12 Cubs batters, but Daytona managed just four hits while stranding 14 runners. Bradenton split the four game series and finished 4-4 on an eight game road trip, returning home 1.5 games out of first place.

The Marauders plated five unearned runs in the second inning, capitalizing on two errors behind Daytona starter Tayler Scott (6-8). Jose Osuna hit two solo home runs in the game, his sixth and seventh of the year. Justin Maffei tripled and scored a run in the ninth. Osuna has hit safely in six straight games, while Osuna has now hit safely in 10 games in a row.

John Kuchno (W, 7-8) walked eight batters over 5 1/3 innings. Bryton Trepagnier inherited the bases full in the sixth and got a strikeout and a fly out to escape trouble. Trepagnier and Jhondaniel Medina combined to preserve Bradenton’s 16th shutout of the year.

The Marauders return home to open a four game series against the Brevard County Manatees on Friday night at McKechnie Field. Tyler Glasnow will pitch for the Marauders. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with first pitch slated for 6:30 p.m.
