BRADENTON – Pete Seeger: The Power of Song is the featured film this Friday at the South Florida Museum in downtown Bradenton. The compelling history of the pioneering folk singer and political activist is portrayed through archival footage, performances and candid interviews with artists such as Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and Joan Baez.

Seeger, along with friend and collaborator Woody Guthrie, is considered a godfather of American folk music. His hit songs If I Had a Hammer and Turn, Turn, Turn! have been covered by countless artists across the musical spectrum. Seeger, who passed away in January, is also credited with popularizing the spiritual hymn We Shall Overcome, which he changed from we will overcome in order to make the refrain more melodic.

Tickets are $5 General Admission and $3 Member Admission. Seating is limited and reservations are recommended. For more information or to make reservations call 941-746-4131, ext. 0. Members should register prior to purchase to receive your discounted price.
