BPD Officer of the Month

Published Tuesday, June 24, 2014

BRADENTON -- Sgt. Anthony Ramdath has been named the Bradenton Police Department’s Officer of the Month for June 2014 for his role in helping a neighbor find her missing, elderly father. Sgt. Ramdath was off duty when this occurred.

Shortly after midnight on Friday, April 25, Sgt. Ramdath notified dispatch of a missing and endangered adult. Sgt. Ramdath was off-duty at his home when he was approached by a neighbor who said her 78-year-old father had not returned home from an outing. Her dad suffers from dementia and she feared for his safety.

Sgt. Ramdath not only assisted with the investigation through its initial phases, but he continued to do so through its closure. He helped search the area on foot and kept the neighbor up to date and calm, and he later located the missing man in the neighborhood. Sgt. Ramdath demonstrated the utmost in professionalism and dedication to duty and the community when he stated to the on-duty officers, “It’s my neighbor, it doesn’t matter whether I’m on or off duty, I’m going to help find him.”

Lt. Brian Thiers, who nominated Sgt. Ramdath for this award, said, “It is an honor to work with officers such as Sgt. Ramdath, who go above and beyond to help someone in need.”

Sgt. Ramdath’s actions speak highly of his dedication to the citizens of the City of Bradenton, so it is with pleasure that Chief of Police Michael Radzilowski names Sgt. Ramdath the Bradenton Police Department’s Officer of the Month for June 2014.
