City Extends Lease on DaVinci Exhibit

Published Friday, June 20, 2014 12:03 am

BRADENTON – The popular DaVinci Machines Exhibit received an extension for one more month. The city council agreed earlier this month to extend their lease with the DaVinci group through the first weekend in August. They were scheduled to move out of the Bradenton Municipal Auditorium on July 7, but the success of the exhibit prompted them to seek another month.

The DaVinci Machines Exhibition, which has been featured in St. Louis and Denver, is currently on exhibit at the auditorium on the Bradenton riverfront, adjacent to City Hall.

The DaVinci Machines Exhibition is on loan from the Museum of Leonardo DaVinci in Florence, Italy, and is one of just three such exhibits traveling the world. It contains over 60 hand-crafted inventions built from Leonardo’s 500-year-old designs and represents the life work of three generations of Florentine artisans, who have painstakingly brought to life the creations and concepts of the brilliant scientist, inventor and artist.

With over 60 machines (many of which are interactive), the collection includes replicas of the most amazing inventions of the original Renaissance Man, Leonardo DaVinci, including the DaVinci bicycle, hang glider, and air screw, the precursor to the modern-day helicopter. Also on display are two of Leonardo’s revolutionary robotic inventions, the life-size robot drummer and for the first time ever, the secrets behind Leonardo’s legendary mechanical lion.
