The Bradenton Times Polls

Poll Question: Which of the following best describe how you feel about elementary school security?

We should have a county deputy in every school, even at an average cost of $144,00 each  We should spend the current $1 million budgeted on 7 roaming deputies  The budgeted funds should be spent on better securing the buildings; ie. security doors, lockdown switches, cameras, etc.  The funds should go to educational needs and any police presence should be a function of law enforcement in that community and its budget More polls »

Marauders Top Cardinals Twice on Thursday

Published Friday, June 13, 2014 12:02 am

BRADENTON – The Marauders rallied twice against the Palm Beach Cardinals to earn a 6-5 last at-bat win over the Palm Beach Cardinals in game one of Thursday's double header. (The game was a resumption of Wednesday's suspended game.) Josh Bell was prolific offensively, hitting a solo home run, driving in the tying and winning runs in the ninth inning with a drive off the wall in right, and even putting down a sacrifice bunt to help plate the first run of the game. Bell finished the game 3-for-4 with a home run and three runs driven in, while scoring twice himself.

Jeff Inman (W, 2-0) pitched a scoreless top of the ninth to earn his second win. Jason Creasy started the game on Wednesday night and allowed three earned runs over four innings. Thomas Harlan pitched the fifth through eighth innings when the game was resumed Thursday, allowing only two unearned runs.

In game 2, Bradenton got a dynamic start from Tyler Glasnow (W, 3-3), who struck out seven over five innings as the Marauders blanked the Cardinals 2-0. Glasnow has won three consecutive decisions. He walked two and struck out three. Bradenton has shut out Palm Beach three times in nine meetings this season.

Bell doubled and scored the Marauders’ first run in the bottom of the fourth on Max Moroff’s two-out RBI-single. Bell homered in the sixth to double the lead. He has now homered in three consecutive games leading into the All-Star Break, and has hit five bombs in his last 11 games played.

Robby Rowland pitched a perfect top of the sixth inning and Bryton Trepagnier (S, 5) pitched a scoreless seventh to earn his fifth save.

The Marauders are now 35-31 and guaranteed to finish the first half of the season with a winning record. Bradenton is back in action on Monday at Fort Myers.
