COMMISSIONER AGENDA

COMMISSIONER COMMENTS

Chairman Bustle -- Commissioner Bustle suggested the Rubonia Civic Center -- currently owned by the School Board -- and maintained by the county, be available for operations and ownership by a not-for-profit organization willing to provide community services. Whether through a bidding process, RFP or otherwise, a motion was made to get the property and operations back in service for the community.

Chappie -- "Think of Palma Sola Blvd a little different; like a local scenic highway that captures the charm. Not adding any pavement either." Chappie said no big deal, just plain and simple. Chappie added, "Manatee county is growing, I thought it had 330,000 but an article in the Bradenton Herald said we have 342,000."

Whitmore -- "A reminder, 'White Out' is this month, keep the food shelves full at local organizations. Ed, we could use a review of the LDC (Land Development Code)… I was surprised, at the health care work session, almost no one knew about 211."

Baugh -- Said on May 6, the animal services board members announced some of them were leaving. I would like to make a motion to hold-off appointing anyone new until after the investigating is over. -- Approved, Unanimous

Benac -- There is a Kiwanis meeting presentation from Susan Maulucci on the Guardian Fund.

Gallen -- The DJJ (Department of Juvenile Justice) meet on June 6. The rules will be discussed in Tallahassee. On solid waste for residents, think about having receptacles in town.

DiSabatino -- "Regarding the TIF, I know it will be great once we get it up and going. I just thought, maybe it would be good to revitalize one area at a time. You know, start in one area and branch out." DiSabatino said she had been thinking about Trailer Estates, and the permitting problems meshing the differences between the county and their HOA; and how they can be helped to work through it.
