Palmetto Library to Host Free Summer Events for Kids and Teens

BRADENTON – The Palmetto Branch Library will host 9 special events for school age children this summer, beginning June 11 and continuing through July 23. Seating for all of the events is free and will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Everyone is welcome to attend, and no registration is necessary.

 

  • Wednesday, June 11 at 2:00 p.m.  What’s in Your Bin? Presented by Manatee County Solid Waste Division
  • Wednesday, June 18 at 2:00 p.m.  Fizz! Boom! Read! Presented by Parks and Natural Resources
  • Thursday, June 19 at 6:00 p.m.      Fizz! Boom! Read! Presented by Mad Science
  • Wednesday, June 25 at 2:00 p.m.  Bits ‘n Pieces Puppets presented by Jerry Bickel
  • Wednesday, July 2 at 2:00 p.m.     Scientific Detectives presented by the Archaeology Network
  • Wednesday, July 9 at 2:00 p.m.     Out of My Hands Juggling presented by Gerard Tricarico
  • Wednesday, July 16 at 2:00 p.m.   Paradise Parrot Show presented by Vicki Howle
  • Thursday, July 17 at 6:00 p.m.      Tampa Taiko Drums
  • Wednesday, July 23 at 2:00 p.m.   Sounds Like Science presented by Mad Science

 

The Palmetto Branch will also host summer Teen Book Discussion Group meetings for teens ages 13-18. Held on the third Thursday of each month from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m., the books discussed will be as follows:

  • Thursday, June 19, 2014:  George Orwell's "1984"
  • Thursday, July 17, 2014:  Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice"
  • Thursday, August 21, 2014:  Gabriel García Marquez's "One Hundred Years of Solitude"

 

Seating for all of these events is free and will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Everyone is welcome to attend, and no registration is necessary.
