Movers and Shakers: SRQ Aces FAA Inspection
SARASOTA – For the 9th year in a row, the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) completes the annual Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airport Safety Certification Inspection with “Zero Discrepancies.” The inspection, which was completed on February 28, 2014, verifies SRQ’s compliance with Federal Aviation Regulation 14 CFR Part 139, and is a key component in maintaining the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Airport License.
The inspection included review of airfield signs, lights, and markings; runway pavement and safety area conditions; Airport Rescue Fire Fighter (ARFF) response time; wildlife management; and training records. In a letter to Fredrick J. Piccolo, SRQ President, Chief Executive Officer, the FAA wrote, “You are to be commended for the procedures that you are using in the day-to-day operation of the airport. The appearance of the airport indicates that they are effective.”
Mr. Piccolo states, “We are very pleased with the outcome of the inspection. This exceptional achievement can be attributed to the professionalism of our dedicated staff who work tirelessly throughout the year to ensure the safety of our operations for the traveling public.”
