REQUEST BY COMMISSIONERS (Items to be pulled from Consent Agenda) -- Items #10 and #26 were pulled from the consent agenda.
CITIZEN COMMENTS (Consent Agenda Items Only)
6. Citizen Comments -- Citizens served the board with a writ of mandamus for the establishment of a common law grand jury in Manatee County. Citing the Magna Carta, quotes from George Washington, the Supreme Court, as well as the state and federal Constitution, a group called the Common Law Grand Jury Investigative Administrators, represented by Rodger Dowdell Jr., were cut short in their allotted public comment time, though commissioners said they would schedule a workshop on the issue. Glen Gibellina presented a petition to the commission supporting Item #26 on the consent agenda. The request was for the installation of two speed tables on 28th Street East. One of the signatures on the petition was Tim Podgis, who says he didn't sign the petition. The commission decided there was still an overwhelming amount of support to install the speed tables, yet chose to put a workshop together on the subject; shelving the item until a later date. Residents were opposed to the many large construction dump trucks speeding through what is a "No Thru Traffic" road, and sailing through the stop signs.

Whitmore -- Requested clearer verbiage for the new Land Development Codes, so residents and others can understand them. Whitmore said the Bishop Animal Shelter donates $6,000 a year to the county. Whitmore also said that the Ebooks from the library don't last long enough before they expire.
Baugh -- said FDOT kept her informed on the fallen concrete that popped six holes in the surface of I-75. Baugh also said that the Air Port debt will be paid-off in August of this year.
Benac -- "We know we are going to continue to grow… but where are we going to get the money."
Gallen -- Gallen suggested making a motion to have a commitment document to the intent of the TIF (Tax Increment Financing) zone, for those who fear the current CRAs will loose their community investment. "It's already clear to them" said Bustle.
DiSabatino -- Thanks to FDOT and the Highway Patrol for the fast response and work on the fallen cement on I-75. DiSabatino also wanted to thank EMS Chief Ron Kofer, for going into Trailer Estates and handling the feral cat issue. "They aren't killing any of them. They are spading and neutering them and then returning them to where they were found," said the commissioner.
Bustle -- MPO said that they are working on the requested "Benderson Park" sign for I-75 and that the landscaping in Parrish is a go.
