Palmetto Hosts Ground Breaking Ceremony for New MLK Park
PALMETTO — The Palmetto Community Redevelopment Agency and City of Palmetto will host a ground breaking ceremony for the new Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park today.
The ground breaking will signal the construction of the new walking park through the Palmetto Ward 1 community. The park will feature a lake with a fountain, decorative lighting, pavilion and walking trail.
The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the proposed entrance on 17th Street West, just west of the Youth Center. Those planning to attend should park in the Palmetto Youth Center parking lot.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park is funded by the Palmetto CRA and City of Palmetto. Portions of the Park’s water features are funded by the Southwest Water Management District.
