American Idol Scottie McCreery Slated to Headline 2014 Palmetto 4th of July Festival

Published Monday, January 13, 2014 12:05 am

PALMETTO — Three  years ago, the Palmetto 4th of July Celebration offered “two tickets to paradise” with rock icon Eddie Money. Two years ago, they answered the question “who let the dogs out?” with the legendary Three Dog Night. In 2013, Palmetto celebrated Independence Day with a free concert in the newly-renovated Sutton Park, with a double bill featuring The Guess Who and The Village People.

In 2014, the Palmetto Community Redevelopment Agency invites everyone to visit Palmetto for the biggest 4th of July Birthday Party on the Florida Suncoast with special guest, American Idol season 10 winner Scottie McCreery.

At the end of the concert, guests can take a short walk down Old Main Street (10th Avenue West) to the Manatee River to enjoy the annual fireworks display sponsored by the City of Palmetto, Manatee County and the City of Bradenton.

Along the way, they can see the recently-redeveloped Olympia Theater, 5th Street LID Streetscape (Florida’s first green street) and Palmetto’s newest jewel, the corporate headquarters of IT Works! Global. The new $1 million Riverside LID boat ramp should be completed by the festivities as well.

The free concert will be performed on the newly-constructed Sutton Park Pavilion. This 40 ft x 70 ft stage is two years in the making and will be the venue for the DeSoto Seafood Fest in April, as well as future Palmetto 4th of July Festival music performances. The CRA will start work on the new Sutton Park bathroom facility in the next few months and expect to have them ready by July.

The Palmetto Community Redevelopment Agency, in conjunction with Oler Productions and Mojo Sound, promotes the 4th of July concert as a means to disseminate information about its projects and redevelopment Incentives. For vendor information please contact Jen Silverio at the Palmetto CRA (941) 723-4988.
