High pressure will move east across the southeastern states today and tonight then push east offshore of the Carolina coast for Thursday through the weekend. As the high progresses eastward, winds will shift from the northeast to the east by Thursday...and the southeast for Friday through the weekend. A cold front will then approach the area over the weekend and tighten the pressure gradient across the area with ridging in place. As a result, mariners can expect periods of wind speeds in the exercise caution range this weekend.
