Bradenton City Council Approves Rate Increase for Water and Sewage Fees
BRADENTON – A resolution requesting a water and sewer utility rate increase was approved by the Bradenton City Council on Wednesday night.
The average city resident can expect to have their rates increased by $1 per month, but could also be as low as 60 cents and as high as $2, said Public Works Director Claude Tankersley, who went over the resolution before the council.
Tankersley said the reason behind the increase is to allow the city to keep pace with inflation so that improvement to water and sewer infrastructure can be continually improved in a “pay-as-you-go” system.
“Our infrastructure, while old, is still operating well,” he said, adding that the next step in improvements would be to replace old water meters in the city.
