Manatee County Commission Agenda Results: 3/12/2013
BRADENTON -- At Tuesday's BOCC Meeting, commissioners struggled endlessly to schedule a referendum vote, on June 18, 2013, to increase Manatee County's sales tax from 6.5 percent, to 7.0 percent. In other business, members voted to add a tax abatement referendum to the June 18 special election vote. This would allow the commission to offer an additional incentive to reward companies that choose to expand or move to Manatee, in order to spark economic development and job creation.

COMMISSIONER COMMENTS
Baugh -- My trip to Washington with commissioner Bustle was wonderful. The weather was really terrible, I mean bad.
Benac -- I was at a meeting and someone asked me about a median, on Cortez Rd., with trees. I told them we (the commission) were just discussing trees in the median in Parrish. I told them they needed to figure out the details for the maintenance first.
Gallen -- When Mr. Wheeler asked about the #2 on the agenda and then again the item coming up as #32, is something we need to look at. It is confusing and we will have to look at it. I just don't want to throw the public off.
Chappie -- On Sunday, I attended the Centennial Services, a wonderful visit.
Whitmore -- I have to go to Homs Beach tonight for a meeting, it's going to be a long day. It was very hard for me today, but i think it is important for this to go to the people for a vote (referring to the indigent health care vote).
DiSabatino -- I assume the Sheriff will be looking for dollars for what the Sheriff's Office provides to the cities. I would like to know what it is costing the cities for this trade-off.
Bustle -- I disagree with commissioner Baugh, it wasn't that cold, but it was windy. We'll be briefed on the meeting with Mica and Carlos.
