Community Spotlight: United Way Corporate Partners Join Forces for Community Work Project
BRADENTON – The United Way of Manatee County gratefully acknowledges the tremendous combined volunteer efforts of two community corporate leaders, Florida Power and
Light and Publix Supermarkets, for a local volunteer project. Organized in conjunction with Florida Power and Light’s statewide Power 2 Care program, which focuses on employees giving back to their community, volunteers from each company took on work projects on Thursday, March 7, at the Foundation for Dreams' (Dream Oaks Camp and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County) Desoto location. They worked side-by-side trimming trees, clearing brush, and painting buildings.
Florida Power and Light graciously offered to cover the costs associated with this beautification project.
In a statement, United Way Manatee President Phillip Brown said; “We are honored and grateful to have the support of such committed corporate community partners and employees at Florida Power and Light and Publix Supermarkets. Their generous volunteer contributions demonstrate by their actions the motto to: Give, Advocate, and Volunteer. These employees and their companies truly know what it means to live united.”
