MANATEE COUNTY – On February 19, the Federation of Manatee County Community Associations presented a plaque to Joe McClash for his many years of service to the community and the FMCCA. McClash served on the Manatee County Commission for 22 years.
A proponent of smart growth, McClash often fought for homeowners seeking to preserve the character of their neighborhoods against denser development or environmental ruin. Vic Coveduck, FMCCA Treasurer, made a short speech that covered some of the many things McClash had done in his 22 years of representing the county as a commissioner.
McClash accepted the award graciously and thanked the 30 or so people in the room. Attendees included current Manatee County Commissioners John Chappie, Robin DiSabatino and Vanessa Baugh, as well as newly-elected Palmetto City Commissioner Jonathan Davis.
