BRADENTON – While delivering his State of the Union address on Tuesday, President Obama called on Washington to rebuild a “rising, thriving middle class.” The President promised to fight for a higher minimum wage, more government investment in schools and clean energy, and to reduce the deficit through both spending cuts and tax increases.

The President presented an ambitious second-term agenda that focused on the economy and jobs. He also proposed new reductions in nuclear weapons and said the United States would move toward a free trade agreement with the European Union, while promising to withdraw troops in Afghanistan.
