USFSM Looks to Advance Partnership Under New SCF President
SARASOTA -- The University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee (USFSM) welcomed new State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) President Dr. Carol Probstfeld to campus on

Wednesday to congratulate her on attaining her new position and reaffirming the university’s commitment to partnering.
Probstfeld met with Regional Chancellor Dr. Arthur Guilford and Regional Vice Chancellor Dr. Bonnie Jones to discuss shared values between the two institutions and ways to further expand innovative educational opportunities for the region.
Probstfeld originally joined SCF as vice-president of Business and Administrative Services in 2003 and served as interim president before being appointed to the position permanently by the Board of Trustees on Jan. 22, 2013
“This is a pivotal moment in my life,” said Dr. Probstfeld, “and in the future of State College of Florida. We are poised to move forward with optimism and have a great partner in USF Sarasota-Manatee. I firmly believe we are standing at the threshold of a new beginning. We are committed to the development of strategic collaborations between SCF and USFSM that will have far-reaching benefits for our students and the vitality of our community. “
Dr. Guilford added, “The key to our success is to leverage diverse and complimentary academic resources to develop a workforce that supports the needs of local communities and creates a national and global influence on education, business, and the arts. We congratulate Dr. Probstfeld and look forward to a renewed and invigorated relationship!”
USF Sarasota-Manatee is a comprehensive, four-year university for those interested in pursuing a baccalaureate or master’s degree, professional certification, or continuing education credit.
