TAMPA – The Tampa Bay Rowdies recently announced the unveiling of its new logo, adding a second star to the iconic Rowdies logo. The Rowdies first star signifies the 1975 North American Soccer League Soccer Bowl Championship, when the Rowdies defeated the Portland Timbers.

The second star represents the 2012 NASL Soccer Bowl Championship, which the Rowdies obtained after a thrilling shootout victory against the Minnesota Stars in front of a sellout crowd on October 27, 2012 at Al Lang Stadium.

The Rowdies have been working with new kit partner Admiral in the production of its 2013 kits, as well as an entire line of Rowdies merchandise and apparel, which will be unveiled soon. During the offseason, the club has also been working with the City of St. Petersburg on improvements at Al Lang Stadium to enhance the fan gameday experience including a realignment of the playing field. The team will be announcing dates for upcoming opportunities for fans to see the new field alignment and choose season seats.

The Rowdies begin the quest to defend the NASL Soccer Bowl title on Saturday February 9 against Major League Soccer’s DC United in the Disney Pro Soccer Classic preseason tournament. The official NASL season begins on April 6 when the Rowdies host the Carolina RailHawks in its 2013 home opener at Al Lang Stadium in St. Petersburg.

Tampa Bay will also be playing the I-4 Derby against Orlando City Soccer Club in a home and away preseason friendly. The first match in Orlando will be at the Florida Citrus Bowl on Saturday, March 9, while the second leg will be played on Saturday, March 30 in St. Petersburg at Al Lang Stadium.
