SARASOTA -- First-term Manatee County Commissioner Michael Gallen was selected as the feature interview in the most recent issue of Sarasota Bay Today. The former Lakewood Ranch High teacher turned public official discussed growing up as the son of a judge and state Senator, his time at the DEP and the case for prioritizing sound environmental policies.
Gallen even discussed his 2009 bout with cancer, which he said was a big part of his decision to run for public office. “The thought of leaving my wife and two baby girls put life into perspective and taught me not to worry about the little things anymore,” Gallen told the magazine. “After becoming cancer free I decided to run for office; the fear of public office had dissolved.”
