5th Annual Gullett Mullet Invitational Results
MANATEE COUNTY -- Five Adult Division Teams and 3 Junior Division Teams competed in the 5th Annual Gullett Mullet Invitational Tournament, culminating in an old-fashioned fish fry at the Palmetto Point Civic Association last Saturday. Proceeds from the fish fry benefited the Manatee-Sarasota Fish and Game Association’s outdoor activities for kids, such as the Jerry Hill Memorial Kids’ Fishing Tournament.
All of the winners in both the Junior and Adult divisions won commemorative plaques.
Junior Division Winners were:
1st Place team was CJ Kizer and Kyle Lecher with their biggest 6 mullet totaling 18.94 pounds. They were awarded $200.
2nd Place winner was Gerald Overstreet with his biggest 6 mullet totaling 13.96 pounds. He was awarded $125.
3rd Place team went to Evan Soudijn and Cotton Cook with ll.87 pounds. They won an 8 foot cast net donated by Fishermen’s Headquarters.
Adult Division Winners were:
1st Place team was Luther Sasser and Scott Mobley with their six largest mullet totaling 23.06 pounds. They won $300.
2nd Place team was Robert Hine and Brian Stovall with 22.19 pounds. They won $200.
3rd Place team was Robert Bustle and Brian Ormsby with 19.34 pounds. They won $100.
Cast Iron Slam winning team members were Luther Sasser and Scott Mobley who won $50 and a cast iron frying pan.
