Manatee County High School Football Schedule: October 12, 2012
BRADENTON – 4-1 Cypress Bay comes into Hawkins stadium looking to spoil Manatee's homecoming as well as their national title hopes on Friday night. The Lightning have only lost to St. Thomas Aquinas and are one of the biggest challenges remaining on the Hurricanes' regular season schedule. Both Lakewood Ranch and Palmetto are idle, while Southeast comes off the short week after beating De Soto 23-7 Monday (game was rescheduled due to weather), hosting Riverview, while Bayshore hosts Braden River.
Manatee and Cypress Bay have had one common opponent this year. Both teams defeated Miramar, who came into the season highly regarded. Manatee blew Miramar off the field in a special, ESPN-televised game in the season opener. Cypress Bay edged the Patriots 17-13 in week 5, before Miramar came back the next week and topped St. Thomas Aquinas. Bottom line, both Manatee and Cypress Bay have been playing good football against tough programs this season and should come in to tonight's game ready to get it on.
