![]() |
BRADENTON – Local theater fans have a chance to see one of only two public performances of MACBETH on an Asolo Repertory Theatre stage, this Thursday night in a special FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training Program production adapted from the play by William Shakespeare and presented as part of Asolo Rep’s New Stages Shakespeare for All campaign.
For this production, the third year class of the FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Acting Training Program is divided into two casts. First performance begins at 6p.m. featuring the "Sound" cast and the second performance begins at 8:30p.m. featuring the "Fury" cast.
The production runs just under an hour. Dmitry Troyanovsky will direct. Troyanovosky adapted the production with Stephanie Fleischmann and have updated the classic with a new look that seeks to relate to issues surrounding power and ambition that are as relevant today in an American election year as they were more than 400 years ago.
A special Opening Night reception will be held between the performances and is included in the $25 ticket price. On the heels of these public performances, MACBETH will embark on a two-month tour of high schools, middle schools and community organizations across Florida. The production will be held in the Cook Theatre at the Florida State University Center for the Performing Arts 5555 North Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34243 (on the grounds of the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art).
