Candidate Profile: Florida House of Representatives: Greg Steube

State House District 67

Party Affiliation: Republican

Age: 33

Residence: Bradenton, FL

Occupation: Attorney

Education: Bachelor of Science with honors in animal science and a minor in agricultural law from the University of Florida. Attended the University of Florida’s Levin College of Law and graduated with Doctor of Jurisprudence (2003)

Steube voted with his party on most major issues, including the property insurance bill, teacher merit pay and FRS pension reform. His signature legislation was a law he sponsored that makes it much harder for divorced parents to falsely allege sexual abuse to restrict visitation.

He also sponsored a bill which passed and was signed by Governor Scott that removes a provision in Florida law that would have allowed local governments to force shopping centers to pay to install security cameras on their property, as well as the Wounded Warrior Act, opening certain parts of state parks for disabled veterans. Stuebe hopes to be able to continue to work toward solutions in home forclosures.

As a born native to Bradenton, Greg Steube has continually dedicated himself and excelled in all he involves himself in. In college, Steube was involved in several University of Florida campus activities including student government, university wide committees, Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity and Florida Blue Key.  He was also recognized for his leadership by being inducted into the University of Florida’s Hall of Fame as an undergraduate and interned for both the Florida Legislature and U.S. Congress.

While in his last year of law school, Steube enlisted in the Army’s delayed entry program and after completing the Florida Bar exam reported to basic training. After a year in the Infantry, Steube branch transferred to the Army JAG Corps where he completed his last three years of service. As a Captain in the Army JAG Corps, Steube acted as a legal assistance attorney, administrative attorney, operational law attorney, the chief of detainee operations, and as criminal trial counsel.

Steube is an associate at the law firm of Becker & Poliakoff. He practices general civil litigation with an emphasis on business litigation, probate litigation, family and marital law, intellectual property litigation and military law. He also practices in the area of real estate, land use, governmental, agricultural and environmental law.
