Manatee County Commission Agenda Results: Sept. 11, 2012

BRADENTON --  At Tuesday's BOCC meeting, commissioners voted to allow implementation of an Automated Red Light Running Enforcement Program to reduce fatalities related to running red lights. Commissioners also voted in a plan that would have the out-of-commission North River American Little League fields in Palmetto, built and in play as soon as late 2013.

58. Commissioner Comments

Administrator Ed Hunzeker, proposed a salary increase for manatee county employees that will not effect the current budget. The funds will come from health insurance savings. Manatee county employees have been on a year-long mission to get healthier and lighter in weight. Thousands of pounds lighter and fewer sick days equals to cheaper premiums. That and a move to Etna Insurance has saved the county $4.3 million. The proposed salary increases will amount to an estimated $3.4 million.
