Locally Set "Dry Creek" Finalist for National TV Programming Award

Recognized in “Best Series - Family Friendly” Category

Published Saturday, September 8, 2012

PARRISH -- BlueHighways TV, an independent multi-platform network that explores the people, stories, traditions and music of America, has announced that its original series, Dry Creek, which is filmed in Parrish, FL, has been selected as a finalist in the Best Series - Family Friendly category of the 5th Annual CableFAX Program Awards. A ceremony for honorees will be held October 30 in New York City at the W Hotel.

Dry Creek is a treasure for BlueHighways TV,” says Stan Hitchcock, Chairman and CEO of the network. “Dry Creek’s stories are so compelling that the cast becomes like family with each new episode. Plus, it is shot in vivid High Definition (HD) on location in the Florida countryside, which is truly the ideal setting for this downhome and family friendly program. We are thrilled that the judges have recognized this series as being a step above and given it their nomination.”

Set in Florida in the 1880's, each episode of Dry Creek reminds viewers that there are old-fashioned answers to modern day problems. In essence, Dry Creek is the combination of the best elements of family-favorite shows of the past, such as Little House on the Prairie and The Waltons. Each storyline conveys a basic truth or moral that is spun with humor, braced in reality, and spiced with the little things that don't cost a dime: common sense, kindness and honesty.

“From a YouTube show in 2010 to BlueHighways TV and this award nomination in 2012, Dry Creek really is the ‘little town that could,’” said Les McDowell, who wears the hats of creator, writer and producer of the series. “Our goal has always been to create a show that families could sit down together to be entertained and uplifted, and we are honored to be acknowledged by the CableFAX editors.”
