BRADENTON – Palmetto pulled it together with a big win in week one, after stumbling in their pre-season Kickoff Classic against Venice. This week they host Sarasota. Manatee jumped to number one in another national poll after routing 8A Miramar 41-6 on national television Sunday. They head to Riverview to take on the Rams.
Manatee is now ranked number one by both Maxpreps and USA Today, whose previous top team, Miami Central, lost to Grayson (Loganville, GA) 35-3 in their opener. Grayson moved to number one in the other national high school poll maintained by ESPN. Miami Central comes to Hawkins Stadium on September 14, which will then give Grayson and the 'Canes a common opponent as a frame of reference.
The Southeast Seminoles look to rebound from their 15-14 loss at Largo when they host Lakewood Ranch, who won their opener over Braden River 21-7 last week. Bayshore got stomped by Tampa Catholic last week and will have their hands full with Port Charlotte.
Friday: 7:30 p.m.

Sarasota at Palmetto
Lakewood Ranch at Southeast
North Port at Braden River
Port Charlotte at Bayshore
