Weekend Adventures in Bradenton: September 7-9, 2012

Published Thursday, September 6, 2012

BRADENTON – It's still hot, hot, hot, but there are cool things to do in Manatee County this weekend. High School football is back and all local teams are in action this Friday night. Get your little ones out on the water for the United Way Kids Fishing Tournament, or bring the family for a kayak adventure through Sarasota Bay with Mote Marine Lab. Watch some tackles, grab your tackle gear or brandish a rowing oar: it's time for another Weekend Adventure in Bradenton!

Week Two of the high school football season brings some interesting match-ups and all area teams are in action. Manatee will have a short week after Sunday's game, a 41-6 rout of Miramar. They travel to Sarasota to take on Riverview, while Sarasota High travels up to Manatee County to take on Palmetto. In an all-Manatee County game, Lakewood Ranch looks to build on their big opening win over Braden River, while Southeast looks to bounce back after a 14-13 loss to Largo in their opener.
