Manatee School Superintendent Announces February Retirement

BRADENTON – Manatee County School District Superintendent Tim McGonegal informed the school board today that he will be retiring, effective February 28, 2013. Dr. McGonegal has served as superintendent since January 2009, when he replaced Roger Dearing, who went on to serve as the Executive Director of the Florida High School Athletic Association.
McGonegal joined the Manatee County School District in January 2002 as Assistant Director of Finance. He was named Director of Finance in June 2004 and promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Business Services in February 2005.
Prior to Manatee County, McGonegal worked for the School Board of Highlands County from February 1986 to January 2002, where he served as Coordinator of Finance and then Director of Business Operations.
