BRADENTON – Despite losing both their star RB and QB to injuries, Palmetto was able to prevail over Riverview, while Lakewood Ranch handed Braden River a loss in their opener. Southeast put themselves behind the eight-ball, losing a one-point heart breaker to Largo in their first game of the regular season.

Palmetto RB Josh Hicks left the game with an injury, but star WR Cory Crawford jumped into the role and made a big splash, rushing for 131 yards in less than a half, including a 63-yard touchdown run. QB Spencer Atkins left the game with an injured shoulder, but back-up Chris Tuten stepped right up, hitting WR Shaq Harris on a 36-yard TD pass just after entering the game. DB Brodrick Waters added two interceptions to help secure the win, 24-13.
