Offense Rallies as Marauders Win Four in a Row

Published Thursday, May 10, 2012

BRADENTON – The Bradenton Marauders rode a four-game winning streak into their home game last night against Clearwater. The offense has taken charge, posting an amazing 29 runs over the course of those four wins. The offense has struggled so far this year and is currently ranked 9th in the 12-team Florida State League.

The streak has landed them in a two-way tie for second with Palm Beach. Both teams trailed the red-hot St. Lucie Mets by nine heading into last night's games. The Marauders will have a chance to pick up some ground this weekend, however, as they host the Mets Saturday night, before heading up the road for a three-game series in St. Lucie that begins Monday night.

Tonight, the Marauders are at McKechnie Field again for a game against the Philadelphia Phillies' minor league affiliate, the Clearwater Threshers. The team is encouraging their fans to come to the game in costume to celebrate 70’s Night. Fans who do dress in their best 70’s garb will be entered to win a team-autographed Marauders pillbox cap. After the game, Disco Inferno takes the stage for a post-game concert. May 10 is also a Thirsty Thursday presented by Budweiser. Sodas and select drafts cost just $1.

The Marauders wrap up their series with Clearwater on Friday May 11 with Faith and Family Night. The first 500 fans through the gates receive a Faith and Family Night T-shirt courtesy of Bayside Community Church, First Baptist Church in Bradenton, and WTBN AM 570 & 910. After the game there will be a spectacular fireworks display presented by Gold Coast Eagle Distributing. Bayside Community Church’s Campus Band will perform from 5:30-6:15. It is also a Happy Hour Friday presented by Pier 22 Restaurant. From 5:30 to 6:30 there will be free hot dogs and drink specials provided by Kayem and Cheney Brothers.

Saturday night the Marauders take on the division-leading St. Lucie Mets in a rematch of last season’s playoffs. The Marauders will wear pink jerseys as part of the Get Your Pink On night. The jerseys will be auctioned off to raise money and awareness for the fight against breast cancer. Money raised will benefit the American Cancer Society.
