Weekend Adventure in Bradenton: Feb.3 - Feb. 5, 2012

Published Thursday, February 2, 2012

BRADENTON -- This weekend come out and see our own Merab-Michal Favorite signing copies of her new book, Images of America, Palmetto. Local Leroy Selmons’ are hosting Super Bowl parties and area teens are organizing rock concerts for charities. Come out and support a new local author, then get ready to scream for your favorite team, or band, it’s time for a Weekend Adventure in Bradenton!

Merab-Michal Favorite

Merab-Michal Favorite is a fifth-generation Palmetto native who grew up on Snead Island. She graduated from the University of South Florida in December of 2011. Favorite writes a popular weekly online column for the Bradenton Times, Sunday Favorites, exploring the history of Manatee County.

Her enchanting story-telling and knowledge of the area’s history combine to create a book worth reading for any local, whether you’re a long time resident or new to the area. Favorite's book signing coincides with Historic Downtown Palmetto's family-friendly "First Friday."

The book signing will take place the Palmetto Art Center from 5 pm to 9 pm. Her book and historic photos will be on sale. Admission to the event is free.

No doubt most of us will be watching the Patriots battle it out with the Giants on Sunday. If you haven’t chosen the couch you’ll be watching it from, or even if you have, we know a place go.

Spend Super Bowl Sunday at Leroy Selmon’s and get an “all access pass” for $63. The pass gets you unlimited food and drinks from the Super Spread Menu. Smokehouse favorites such as Selmon’s famous St Louis ribs, Pulled Pork, Superstar Sliders, Selmon Bros Wings and Buffalo Style wings are on the menu.
