Weekend Adventure in Bradenton: Feb.3 - Feb. 5, 2012
BRADENTON -- This weekend come out and see our own Merab-Michal Favorite signing copies of her new book, Images of America, Palmetto. Local Leroy Selmons’ are hosting Super Bowl parties and area teens are organizing rock concerts for charities. Come out and support a new local author, then get ready to scream for your favorite team, or band, it’s time for a Weekend Adventure in Bradenton!

Merab-Michal Favorite is a fifth-generation Palmetto native who grew up on Snead Island. She graduated from the University of South Florida in December of 2011. Favorite writes a popular weekly online column for the Bradenton Times, Sunday Favorites, exploring the history of Manatee County.
Her enchanting story-telling and knowledge of the area’s history combine to create a book worth reading for any local, whether you’re a long time resident or new to the area. Favorite's book signing coincides with Historic Downtown Palmetto's family-friendly "First Friday."
The book signing will take place the Palmetto Art Center from 5 pm to 9 pm. Her book and historic photos will be on sale. Admission to the event is free.

No doubt most of us will be watching the Patriots battle it out with the Giants on Sunday. If you haven’t chosen the couch you’ll be watching it from, or even if you have, we know a place go.

Some of the region’s most popular bands will be at Robarts Arena Friday participating in Rock Out for a Cause. The event is organized by area teens showing their support for five non-profit organizations and initiatives. Taking Back Lives, a non-profit youth organization, is hosting the event.
Bands in the line-up include November Rush, Primavista, Voices, Shoebox Monsters, Tigerweather and Audea. Proceeds from ticket sales will go to five student-selected organizations and initiatives, including Honor Animal Rescue, Sk8skool, To Write Love on Her Arms, Project Eliminate, and Taking Back Lives. Tickets are $15 in advance, $18 at the door, and can be purchased at area schools, online, or by calling (941)404-5825.
The first 150 people to buy tickets will receive a free Rock Out for a Cause t-shirt.
