SARASOTA – Ernest Hemingway fans have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to lose themselves in a theatrical experience that captures the essence of the golden age of literature. In this innovative play that uses the timeless beauty of Seagate, Powel Crosley Estate's 1929 Mediterranean Revival-style mansion, as the picture perfect "set," Gwendolyn Crosley invites Hemingway into her home for performances of some of his best-loved works.
Joined by his friend F. Scott Fitzgerald, Papa takes in enactments that include his Nobel-winning Old Man and the Sea, as well as Fitzgerald's iconic, The Great Gatsby. Stars of the silent-film era, like Charlie Chaplin even show up to lend a hand. So get out your fedoras and cloche hats, ready your spit curls and travel back in time to the Roaring Twenties, courtesy of the Powel Crosley Theater!
