Officer Jason Nuttall Named BPD Officer of the Month
BRADENTON – Officer Jason Nuttall has been selected to receive the Bradenton Police Department’s Officer of the Month award for February 2012 for singlehandedly arresting three thieves and thwarting two burglaries in a matter of days.
“In the space of three days Officer Jason Nuttall arrested three suspects and closed two cases by himself,” Lt. William Fowler wrote in his recommendation of the award for Officer Nuttall. “We have been plagued with burglaries and copper thefts in this area of Zone 5. Officer Nuttall had been concentrating his efforts in this area. His rapid response and swift actions leading to multiple arrests has assuredly reduced our crime in this area.”

On Jan. 3, Officer Nuttall had been dispatched to the 2400 block of 25th Avenue West where he caught two suspects in the act of burglarizing a residence. Three days later he was dispatched to the 900 block of 17th Street West where he arrested another suspect who was stealing copper piping.
The suspect from the second arrest provided information to detectives about other crimes in the area and may have furthered investigations into additional suspects who have been persons of interest for numerous burglaries, thefts and a possible home invasion, Lt. Fowler wrote.
The award recipient will receive a certificate, letter of commendation, one day of administrative leave and the use of the Officer of the Month parking space.
