  • Claude Tankersley showed the board a presentation on road maintenance. There are approximately 157 miles of street in the City of Bradenton. Tankerley’s team walked all of them and used the PASER ranking scale to rate their condition on a scale of 1 to 10. According to Tankersly, maintaining a street is much for cost efficient than neglecting a road and then repaving it. Without any maintenance, asphalt roads have a life span of about 16 years, with regular maintenance and repair; the road will last twice as long. Tankersly said $2.5 million is needed to repave roads and move forward with maintenance program. Currently only 10 percent of the roads in Bradneton need to be repaved.
