BRADENTON – After nearly 31 years, Battalion Chief Garry Lawson has worked his last shift with the fire department. Garry joined the department in Dec. 1980.
When he was 10 years old, he and his family experienced a fire in their home, and the BFD was quick to respond. That experience was the driving force behind his desire to fight fire.
Outside the department, he enjoys time with his family and serves as Fire Commissioner for the East Manatee Fire District. His passion for the fire service and his friendship will be missed.
