BRADENTON – The Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association presented Catherine Wilson with its 2011 Professional of the Year Award for her work in the field of alcohol and drug abuse treatment and prevention services. Presenting the award on August 25 at the annual FADAA conference in Orlando, Patti Greenough, President of FADAA thanked Catherine for her dedication and professionalism in service to clients and community.
Since joining Manatee Glens in 2001, Wilson has served as Chair of the Manatee County Substance Abuse Coalition whose goals are to reduce underage drinking and prescription pain pill abuse. Most recently, she has increased Manatee Glens’ commitment to prevention of alcohol and drug use in the Manatee County Schools by expanding prevention services to reach thousands of students.
An expert in trauma assessment and crisis intervention, Wilson noted, “Kids who turn to alcohol and drugs often have underlying emotional challenges. We need to deal with both problems to really help these kids.”
