"Next Tuesday, February 5th, Tea Party Manatee's Vice President, Steve Vernon, will be talking to us about the use of Twitter. He will also be showing us how to use it. We do have WiFi in the Honeybell Hall so plan on bringing your cell phones or whatever you might Tweet on. This is going to be great because, I, for one, have never Tweeted yet we know that many people do, especially young people. This is one way that the Democrats really got their message out.
"We have been meeting with the large group of individuals that have agreed to be considered for our board. These individuals have also shown an interest in leading groups. We have some amazing people that we are looking forward to working with. The thing is, in our effort to look at things that our group has done right and wrong, we are trying to figure out how we can make more of a difference. One of the things that we have discussed is, starting in March, maybe only meeting twice a month. We want to form "work groups" or committees that DO things. More people attending the school board meetings, editorial writing groups, people going to Tallahassee, people going to commissioners meeting, groups that work with other tea party groups. The list is endless. It is hard to do all these things and meet every week, plus attend our board meetings. We have to expand! The off weeks is not a time to sit back and do nothing, everyone needs to join a group that meets the weeks that the Tea Party is not having a meeting. The live broadcast that Dean is researching is, possibly, going to be one way of doing this. Making our web site calendar include information of all kinds of things happening in the state. We will need help with keeping up with this and then have people attend these events and let us know what is happening. We have learned that just getting people elected in Manatee and Sarasota counties, is not enough. I'll keep you informed about how this progresses."
