WSLR Highlights Local Talent with Upcoming Show at Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center

Date: January 26, 2013Time: 8:00 pm
Location:  Show map Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center
525 Kumquat Court
Sarasota, FL
On Saturday, January 26 at 8pm, Matt Burke will make a rare solo appearance at the Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center. Multiple Best of the Bay-winning Americana outfit HAVE GUN, WILL TRAVEL began as a solo, acoustic outlet for singer-songwriter Matt Burke. American Songwriter Magazine has called Matt’s songs "organic, infectious Americana pop." Since then, HGWT has evolved into a full band, released three full-length albums and toured extensively. HGWT's music has been featured in national commercial campaigns and TV shows such as the PBS series Roadtrip Nation and CBS's The Good Wife. Come out and support local music as Matt Burke brings it back around full-circle with an intimate, solo performance.

Opening the show will be The Leptons. Organized by local musician Rick Almarode, the Leptons is a new project that showcases Almarode’s own songwriting as well as pulling support from other established musicians to contribute both their style & texture to his songs as well as share some of their work. At a recent noteworthy performance the Leptons support crew included local powerhouse musicians Matt Frost, Jeff Arevalo, & Al Donad”. The Leptons project is just as comfortable performing acoustic sets as performing with an entire band. Americana, folk, rock, blues, indie, and groove/experimental roots, together with sincere delivery are the foundation of the Leptons. This show will be a duo acoustic performance.
Tickets are $5. They are available online at wslr.org or at the door on the night of the show. Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center is located at 525 Kumquat Court in downtown Sarasota. The show is sponsored by WSLR 96.5, Sarasota’s Community radio station.
