The Jewish Federation of Sara-Mana Presents "Keyboard Conversations” with Jeffrey Siegel

The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee continues its inaugural "Keyboard Conversations” series with internationally acclaimed pianist, Jeffrey Siegel, January 22, 2013, and March 14, 2013. Keyboard Conversations is a brilliantly polished concert-with-commentary format in which captivating comments precede dynamic performances of beloved piano masterpieces. A Q & A concludes the concert. All concerts are at 8 p.m. at The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee, 580 McIntosh Road, Sarasota. Tickets start at $30 per concert. "The Romantic Music 0f Chopin" (January 22, 2013, 8 p.m.) features stirring Polonaises, tuneful waltzes, dreamy nocturnes, the mysterious and beloved "Fantasy Impromptu," and the tempestuous "Scherzo No. 2."

 

“The Power and Passion of Beethoven" (March 14, 2013, 8 p.m.) features "Fur Elise" (who was she and why did Beethoven write this for her?), "Moonlight Sonata," the high-spirited "Rage over a Lost Penny," and "Farewell Sonata" (who was leaving and why was Beethoven so deeply affected?).

 

"This is an inspired series," says Howard Tevlowitz, executive director of The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee. "New listeners discover an informal, entertaining and accessible introduction to great music. Seasoned music-lovers enjoy a deeply enriched, more focused listening experience." 

 

Jeffrey Siegel has been a soloist with the world's great orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, London Symphony, Moscow State Symphony, Amsterdam, Oslo and Stockholm Philharmonic, and NHK Symphony of Japan. In the United States, engagements have included the New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, The Philadelphia Orchestra, The Cleveland Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra and Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Siegel has appeared on Oprah Radio’s “Dr. Oz Show," and PBS recently featured a one-hour television special, “Keyboard Conversations: Piano Treasures.” For more information,visit www.keyboardconversations.com.
