Showing of "You Can't Take it With You" At Asolo Repertory Theatre

Asolo Repertory Theatre has two Pulitzer Prize-winning plays running this weekend, including opening night of the much-anticipated Glengarry Glen Ross, the 1984 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning play written by one of the most highly-acclaimed American writers of this generation, David Mamet. The play opens Friday at 8 p.m. with a special preview tonight.
Carl Forsman, Dean of the University of North Carolina School for the Arts, directs the show, which runs through Feb. 28. “This play won the Pulitzer for a good reason. It’s a true modern classic,” said Forsman.
On Saturday, theater fans can catch another performance of You Can't Take it With You, the 1937 Pulitzer Prize-winning play by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart. Written as an antidote to the nation’s troubles during The Great Depression, this story is as relevant and necessary today as it was then, considering the financial conundrum our government faces over the “fiscal cliff” and "debt ceiling" debates.
Despite advances in healthcare, this show holds that laughter is still the best medicine. Visit Asolo's box office for more information.
