Bradenton, FL
The South Manatee Branch Library is pleased to welcome local astronomy expert Jonathan Sabin to the library on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 starting at 2:00 p.m.
The spokesman for the Local Group of Deep Sky Observers astronomy organization, Mr. Sabin will present “Astronomy: What’s New in the Cosmos.” This visually-stunning show will reveal many of the most recent images and discoveries in the space sciences. A Q&A session will follow the one-hour program.
Jonathan Sabin is well-known in the Manatee-Sarasota area as one of the presenters of the very popular “Sidewalk Astronomy” events, where local astronomy enthusiasts set up high-quality telescopes each month for the public to view the cosmos free of charge. In pursuit of clear, dark skies, he has traveled extensively: twice venturing half-way around the globe to the remote Australian Outback. He was profiled in the November 2012 issue of SRQ Magazine in an article entitled “Star Gazers.”
The program is free and everyone is welcome to attend. There is no advance registration required; seating will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
The South Manatee Branch Library is located at 6081 26th Street West in Bradenton, Florida. For more information, please call the library at 941-755-3892.
