Palmetto, FL- Andersen RacePark continues to host TRACK, “Teaching Road Awareness and Consequences to Kids”, presented by Safe Teen Driver Founder Bruce Murakami. The 2012 schedule is:
April 15th Sunday, May 6th Sunday, June 3rd
Sunday, September 2nd Sunday, October 7th Sunday, November 4th
In 2011, over 350 teenagers from Manatee County and the Tampa Bay attended and received certificates of completion. All kids who attend must have a parent or guardian with them.
Automobile accidents are the number one cause of death for teenagers. To help combat these statistics, TRACK and Andersen RacePark in Palmetto have committed their time and resources to give teenagers the skills and awareness to avoid potential situations.
“TRACK” was developed by Bruce Murakami who lost his wife and daughter as the result of an accident caused by teenagers who were street racing in the middle of the day.
-The one-day course, TRACK includes:
-Classroom driving instruction
-Hands-on DUI and distracted driving challenge using goggles that distort vision
-Delicious catered lunch
-Vendors with information on teen driving
-Drawings for prizes
This program is recommended for high school students-particularly those who expect to receive a driver’s permit or driver’s license in the next year-or any new drivers.
Murakami added, “Prom season and graduations are treacherous times for teenagers. TRACK can provide kids with the information and knowledge needed to understand the dangers of being reckless and the difficult results that can occur.
The hazards of DUI is stressed throughout the program and we are also working hard to help teenagers learn the dangers and consequences of driving while texting and talking on the phone. TRACK teaches the kids good driving skills and habits in a fun environment. TRACK offers our kids unique experiences with the hope they will carry away with them for many years to come.
Anyone who completes the TRACK program may be eligible for an auto insurance discount if AAA or Progressive insures them. Other insurance companies may also offer a discount. We encourage TRACK students and their families to talk with their insurance provider.”
