Celebrate an entire week immersed in the
sound and culture of jazz at various locations throughout the county during
the Second Annual Manatee Jazz Fest from April 9-18.
The South Florida Museum is spearheading
the event in affiliation with the Smithsonian Institution's annual Jazz
Appreciation Month. Jazz Fest features a wide lineup of different flavors
of music representing different cultures.
For instance, enjoy a Duke Ellington tribute
performance at the Manatee Players Theater on Sunday, April 11, dance the
night away with Latin jazz at the Cuban Cultural Celebration at the South
Florida Museum on April 16, or enjoy the day listening to the sound of
jazz on both Manatee Jazz Fest Saturdays at the Downtown Bradenton Farmers’
Market with performances by Tom Barrett Dixieland Jazz on April 10 and
Jazzology Trio on April 17.
Enjoy a small, one day taste of the celebration
of jazz, culture and history during this county wide event, or arrange
to indulge in an unforgettable week. Prices and times vary for all events.
